Automatic Action Scripts that Work with the PRO Plug-Ins for Unique Enhancement Results

In an effort to empower our customers to better utilize our Professional plug-ins, Kodak ADC is offering FREE Action scripts for PHOTOSHOP CS, CS2 and CS3. The Actions provide a variety of benefits from improving plug-in performance on certain types of images to optimizing the plug-ins for unique effects to create more beautiful images.

Once the Actions are loaded into the Actions Palette, they can be played in a fully automatic mode to affect a selected image or layer, and the Actions can also be customized by advanced users to fine-tune the results.

The FREE Actions work in conjunction with the most current version our professional plug-ins: DIGITAL ROC Professional, DIGITAL SHO Professional, DIGITAL GEM Professional, and DIGITAL GEM Airbrush Professional Plug-Ins. We will add more Actions in the future, as well as update existing ones. So check this page regularly.

ROC Outland Action
This Action works with the DIGITAL ROC Professional Plug-In to restore, correct, and balance color of digital images with problems of tinting, color casting, fading, or abnormal lighting. The ROC Outland Action is for severely tinted images which have little or no information in one of the color channels. If you?ve had images where the professional plug-in didn?t totally meet the challenge, give this Action a try.

The Photoshop Plugin that Restores, Corrects, and Balances Color

SHO Spotlighter Action
This Action works with the DIGITAL SHO Professional Plug-In to reveal details hidden in the shadows and highlights to optimize digital image exposure. The SHO Spotlighter Action emphasizes skin tones and high detail areas in the center of the image. The outer edges of the image are de-emphasized by applying a subtle vignette that leaves the dark and light areas near the edges untouched. The center or focal point of the image is then emphasized with a specialized DIGITAL SHO Professional Plug-In effect.

The Photoshop Plugin that Reveals Details Hidden in Highlights and Shadows

GEM Sharp Action
This Action works with the DIGITAL GEM Professional Plug-In to reduce image noise and film grain. The GEM Sharp Action focuses on preserving image detail and sharpness while reducing noise and grain. It automatically ensures that the resulting image has preserved every bit of sharpness that the original had while minimizing the noise and grain. This is a great method of using the plug-in without worrying about detail or sharpness loss.

The Photoshop Plugin that Reduces Image Noise and Grain

AIR Dimensional Action
This Action works with the DIGITAL GEM Airbrush Professional Plug-In to smooth skin surfaces. The AIR Dimensional Action adds subtle shadowing detail to areas which may appear too flat after using the DIGITAL GEM Airbrush Professional Plug-In. The Action works on skin tone areas, as well as background elements to bring back shadow dimensionality while maintaining the smoothing effects of the plug-in.

Installation and Usage

To load the KADC Actions in Photoshop :

1) Make sure that you have the most current version of the corresponding KADC professional plug-ins installed and available in your filter menu under ?Kodak?. Trial versions will work but will put a watermark on the final image - to disable the watermark, purchase and register the plug-in.

2) Extract the Action file (.atn) and sample JPEG from the ZIP archive to any location on your computer. Make note of that location since you will need it for loading the Actions into Photoshop.

3) Open Photoshop and make sure the Actions palette is visible. If the Actions palette is not visible, click the Photoshop "Window" drop down menu and select "Actions" which will make the palette appear in your workspace.

4) Click on the small arrow button in the top right corner of the Actions palette and select ?Load Actions?. Browse to the location where you saved the action file (.ATN extension), select the file and click ?ok?. The action will appear in the Actions palette. Add the other action files in the same way.

5) Once you?ve loaded all the actions, open an image file or select a layer without a mask, and simply select or highlight the action you wish to use from the specific action folder. Then click on the "Play Arrow" at the bottom of the Actions palette. The action will run and automatically provide the result. To "undo" the effects of the action, go to the "History" palette and click on the thumbnail at the top of the palette for the original image.

Advanced Users:
Advanced Photoshop users may want to adjust the action to customize it for their personal taste. One easy customization is to have the dialog box displayed when the plug-in is called so you may adjust the settings to something other than the default. See ?Using the Actions Palette? in the Photoshop help for a description of how to do this.

The first time the action is played, a copyright notice will be displayed. You may remove the checkmark next to the first step in the action to disable the display of this notice.
