DIGITAL ROC Technology for Film Scanners
KADC's imaging technology is licensed by a variety of manufacturers. If
you have a problem with your hardware or software, please contact the
OEM scanner
manufacturers or minilab
manufacturers. Should your question or issue be in regard to
product availability, performance or specifications, please read our
most frequently asked support questions below or contact our Customer Support Group.
DIGITAL ROC Technology
automatically restores an image?s original colors by analyzing the base
image and applying corrections to the faded colors. Using a complex set
of proprietary algorithms, DIGITAL ROC Technology reads the dye
signature in color negatives and slides and restores colors to the
appropriate levels.
Can Black & White
film be used with DIGITAL ROC Technology?
A3:
Traditional
silver-halide and chromogenic (C41 process) Black & White film can
be used on DIGITAL ROC Technology enabled scanners. When scanning these
films for DIGITAL ROC Technology implementation, the film must be
scanned as a color image. Since the film in question is Black &
White, DIGITAL ROC Technology functionality pertains to over and under
exposure correction only. After DIGITAL ROC Technology processing, the
color image may be converted to Black & White using an image editor.
Which scanners are
available with DIGITAL ROC Technology?
A4:
Minolta?s Dimâge? Scan
Multi II Nikon?s Coolscan® IV ED, Coolscan® V ED, Super Coolscan® 4000
ED, Super Coolscan® 5000 ED, Super Coolscan® 8000 ED, and Super
Coolscan® 9000 ED incorporate DIGITAL ROC Technology as a component of
the DIGITAL ICE3
and DIGITAL ICE4
Technology suites. Also, PIE's 3650 models.
Since DIGITAL ROC
Technology is a software application, can it be obtained without
purchasing a scanner?
A5:
Minolta Dimâge Scan
Multi scanner owners can obtain DIGITAL ROC Technology combined with
DIGITAL GEM as an application upgrade via the Minolta Corporation Web
site ( www.minoltausa.com) or by purchasing a CD-ROM/Manual from
Minolta?s customer service (201-825-4000).
Can DIGITAL ROC
